Initially, music fans would dial 2580, hold up their phones to identify music, and receive song details via text. The platform&#8217;s popularity surged with the 2008 launch in the App Store and the introduction of its iOS app, which brought music recognition technology to millions of users.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">By the summer of 2011, Shazam had already recognized over<strong> 1 billion<\/strong> songs.\u00a0Following its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/official-apple-buys-shazam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">acquisition<\/a> by Apple in 2018, for <strong>$400 million,<\/strong> Shazam started offering users more ways to discover music.<\/p>\n      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #3\" data-params=\"dfp_spu3\" id=\"dfp_spu3\"><\/div>      <\/div>      \n<p class=\"p1\">Recent technological advancements further enhanced the Shazam experience, including Music Recognition on iOS and macOS, a Shazam widget on the watchOS Smart Stack, integration with the iPhone and Apple Watch Action button, Wear OS update for direct watch-based song identification, and a Quick Settings tile on Android devices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Last year, Shazam <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/shazam-launches-personalized-in-app-concert-discovery-hub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched<\/a> a personalized in-app concert discovery hub called \u2018<b>Concerts<\/b>\u2019, which makes use of users\u2019 Shazam history to deliver curated event recommendations. In June 2023, Shazam rolled out a new feature that lets users identify songs on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and other apps by turning on the<a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-ph\/HT210331#:~:text=Use%20Auto%20Shazam&amp;text=Shazam%20never%20saves%20or%20stores,%E2%80%9CShazam%20on%20app%20start.%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0\u2018Auto Shazam\u2019\u00a0<\/a>feature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In addition to its technical capabilities, Shazam says it is also a platform for capturing global music trends and moments. During the Paris Olympics, <b>Kavinsky<\/b>&#8216;s <i>Nightcall <\/i>became the most identified song in a single minute.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The app\u2019s recent milestones include <b>Benson Boone<\/b>&#8216;s <i>Beautiful Things, <\/i>which in 2023 became the first track to hit <b>10 million<\/b> recognitions, achieving this in just 178 days.
